From Mechanical Engineer
To Human Engineer
When you first meet Gary, you’d be hard pressed to imagine him early in his career—a shy engineer trying to make his mark in sales. He was determined to be really good on his feet, to become an effective communicator and excel in sales. So he got down to work and began making changes.
Soaking in all the training and mentoring opportunities he could, Gary learned how to interact with people, how to be curious and ask the right questions and understand the customers’ needs. He literally transformed himself from mild-mannered mechanical engineer to a gregarious guru of sales and training. His own transformation became the basis for working with others as he developed what he calls his career as a human engineer.
An Inspiring Career
Gary’s work history includes sales, training and human engineering at Thomas Nationwide Transport, Priority Management and The Marketing Factory. He has a deep understanding of technical construction and mechanical systems, which helped him develop a niche working with construction and mechanical engineering executives.
Gary’s career path has taken him around the globe, from Sydney, Australia, to Bath England, to Atlanta and finally to Seattle—the Emerald City—which seems only fitting place for the Biz Wiz of Oz to land.
A Leader of Leaders
Gary’s passion for shaping business leaders extends beyond his work at OZmosis. For many years, Gary has been coaching and advising CEOs through Vistage International (formerly TEC), the world’s largest CEO membership organization. His ability to influence and inspire outward change has been essential in his role as a Group Chair.
